Richard Colman returns to New Image Art with a fresh face on October 19, 2013. In his new body of work, Colman continues to address the challenging and very human subjects of life, death, and what comes between. “Gone Tomorrow” is a marriage of Colman’s radical color palette with the candor of his widely recognizable black and white ink drawings. The merging of the two styles gives birth to an exciting expression that is bright, yet minimal. The work gives us a glimpse of the artist’s own fears and vulnerability, perhaps allowing us to recognize these things in ourselves as well.
Richard Colman’s work is known for blending figurative imagery and bold geometry. Typically using symmetrical compositions, Colman explores themes of human sexuality, societal hierarchies, and life and death. His work ranges from small to large-scale paintings, murals, and installations. Colman has been working as a professional artist for over a decade and has exhibited extensively in galleries and museums throughout the world including the ARKEN Museum of Modern Art, Denmark. He currently lives and works in San Francisco, California.
