think that thought ,a lot... including the works of rick froberg, rich jacobs ,& rob leecock - a 3 person show- showcasing the visual contributions of each of these 3 east coast artists, all working within the figurative world. each  of them is adding something very much their own, with distinctly unique styles and personal influences. tying the show together is  a shared interest in the  human condition, what makes each of them tick, and what they seem to occupy their time with. all 3 have an almost irreverent, raw, or sarcastic way of looking at people, although it is sometimes quite subtle. they have brought in their own experiences to their work making it original, and uniquely' them' ,    it is hard to mistake their styles as anything other than their own, which gives the viewer a fresh look at 3 very different versions of the world. jacobs is friends with both artists but recognizes the differing approaches with fondness, and thinks that diversity is good. he wants to give people the chance to see the workof two of his friends.
rick froberg works mostly in ink, guache, and acrylic, his work is narative usually but uses animals often to portray human conditions and situations. they are like a mix between raymond pettibone ,goyas etchings, and 40's illustrations for paperback book covers. rick is also a longtime musician, and has done record covers for many bands includiing his own-pitchfork,drive like jehu, and most recently hot snakes. he does animations as well-see the dietch website for an example. he does illustration, paints, and draws for many magazines and has done alot of great posters, etchings, and woodcuts as well. he is from california but now lives in brooklyn, right down the street from rich .
rob leecock is a commercial artist ,graphic designer-from new jersey by day and does some of the most detailed work since eric white by night. his personal work is very obsessive and painstakingly done with the manic skill.& attention to detail. sometimes realistic , and somethimes slightly exagerated his paintings and drawings fill a space between r.crumb, robert williams and eric white, but his work like whites is not quite as low brow and tends to be more personal in his subject matter. not quite as hot rod or 'californian' as some of his peers. his use of the pencil is impressive, and he captures the life of his characters by getting the small things right. he used to do record covers for the band monster magnet, but his style has changed quite alot since those days. he is a humble ,grateful, new addition to the gallery world but is definitely ready skills-wise.
rich jacobs is a semi shy artist/curator who works both in the figurative and abstract realms. line work is sometimes very free style, flowing, and organic,  other times more controled and focused. he uses the face alot to express emotional and physical stresses. the story is on the characters expressions usually. sometimes jacobs work appears on clothing and skateboard graphics, magazines and illustrations, but mainly he is focusing it in the fine art you see in galleries like new image art. the show will also include a small wall for some of jacobs friends, and usually there is some type of musical component as well. this one will have work by zai bass player from japanese noise rock band nisennen mondai -which means literally year 2000 problem. also collaborator and and good friend tim kerr from austin tx, and several others will be shown in jacobs space as well. there will be alot to see in this exhibition for sure.
