Scooter and Taylor Paintings and installations by Alena "Scooter" Rudolph and Taylor McKimens March 17-April 28 2001 Opening Reception: Saturday, March 17 7-10 PM

Two solo shows focusing on new directions in painting from two young artists. Both artists shall be incorporating murals and installations on the gallery walls as well as paintings painted on discarded pieces of wood and other found objects. Scooter's art is visually striking depicting cold urban landscapes. Her art is highly illustrated yet rough in style. She focuses on silhouettes of telephone poles and the intricacies of their wires against the streets and buildings of San Francisco. She incorporates trucks on the horizon line and buildings intermingled with shapes of urban graffiti. Taylor McKimens art is about the interrelationships of people in mostly interior settings. His art is cryptic yet highly rendered and uses text to add to the tension of his paintings. He will be incorporating faux woodgrain in his installation. A recent graduate from Art Center, he recently moved from Los Angeles to New York City.
